The Sherman Inn & Bar is a remarkable 170-year-old boutique destination that was renovated in 2016-2017. There are 22 guest rooms and no two are alike. All have been beautifully restored and enriched with modern conveniences, wood floors, marble-tiled bathrooms, walk-in showers, custom shutters and the best mattresses!
THE BLACK FOREST BAR RESTAURANT
Located in The Sherman Inn & Bar, the Black Forest Bar Restaurant invokes the spirit of the Black Forest region in Germany and offers upscale dining suitable for all ages. Diners have a choice between two distinct neighboring rooms that make up the restaurant and enjoy, top-notch service, fresh cooking, crafty cocktails and a great selection of beer.
THE SHERMAN BIERGARTEN
The new Biergarten is fashioned after German biergartens and features live outdoor open air entertainment. Casual dining options along with a full bar makes the venue a delightful place to hang-out unhurried, meet friends and build memories.
THE SHERMAN BIER HALL
The 7000 square foot Bier Hall joins the Biergarten and is the newest addition to The Sherman. The unique “industrial-rustic” space with pool tables, dartboards, cold beer and crafty cocktails also hosts live entertainment and includes an indoor restaurant.
THE 1852 DINING ROOM
The historic dining room now serves as a private dining space and is perfect for gatherings up to about 50. The old world charm combined with a contemporary décor dazzles guests of all ages. With the convenience of onsite catering, bookings are available 6 days a week for lunch or dinner.
MEETINGS & PARTIES
The Sherman offers a variety of options for meetings, parties or private dining. The Boehringer Hall (up to 120), the 1852 Historic Dining Room (up to 50) and the Lone Star room (10-12) offer your guests upscale venue options. Or take your event more casual to the Bier Hall or Biergarten for a variety of options to entertain your guests midweek or on the weekends. A favorite stopover for travelers since the time of Lincoln, The Sherman is a well-loved locale for the people of Batesville and an important historic Indiana landmark. There’s no place quite like it in the entire United States.
